M-O-T-H-E-R

"M" is for the million things she gave me,

"O" means only that she's growing old,

"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,

"H" is for her heart of purest gold;

"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,

"R" means right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"

A word that means the world to me.

~By Howard Johnson~

In 1910 the first Mother's Day proclamation was issued by the governor of West Virginia. Oklahoma celebrated Mother's Day that year also. By 1911 every state observed Mother's Day.
If your Mom is like mine coming up with ideas for Mothers Day is really hard and Mothers Day ideas don't come easily for you. She's not one who likes to take the time to pamper her self. She's very low maintenance really....

She doesn't go to fancy spas or buy extravagant clothing. Once in a great while she might go out to eat. But usually this is done for special occasions. It's very hard to shop for the woman!

So what are some things you can do to make Mom's day special? Here are some Mothers Day ideas that you might find fun.

One the best way to celebrate Mother's Day is to give your mom the day off. Let her take it easy and relax while the rest of the family does the work.

*How about starting off Mom's day by making her breakfast in bed? Eggs and pancakes under warm blankets and she didn't have to cook? Perfect!

*Do secret acts of kindness, this might include doing one of Mom's chores for her. Do a load of laundry, dust the living room, and wash the dishes.... All without even being asked.

*Listen to Mom.... When she asks you to do something, just do it. When you say, "Ok Mom..." She won't believe her ears. Plus it will be fun to see the funny look on her face.

*Leave a love letter, for mom, on her pillow. Tell her what a great Mom she is and that you appreciate all the things she does for you.

* Give your mom a phone call...(No not collect either!) on Mother's Day. Did you know Mother's Day is widely reported as the peak day of the year for long distance telephone calls?

* If you can't pick flowers for your Mom, how about ordering her favorite flowers and sending them to her? They don't have to be roses. Pick out what she likes! Martha Stewart for 1-800-Flowers.com
