Use Christmas candy to make cookies? Peppermint patty candy is a mint of a Christmas idea!
Quart Mason Jar clean and dry
5" X 5" Piece of Christmas fabric
Cardstock or colored piece of paper
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 ounces white chocolate chopped into 1/4 inch pieces
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 ounces peppermint candy chopped into 1/3 inch pieces
Layer all above ingredients in given order. Print out directions for making cookies below. Mount the recipe directions to a piece of card stock slightly larger than the recipe. Use the hole punch to punch a hole in the corner of the recipe. Put the Christmas fabric over the lid of the jar and tie ribbon around the lid so that the fabric stays in place. Place the ribbon through the hole-punched recipe and tie a bow.
Attach this recipe to the jar.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Sift the jar mixes into a large bowl. Heat 1 inch of water in the bottom half of a double boiler over medium heat. With the heat on, place the white chocolate in the top half of the double boiler. Use rubber spatula to stir the chocolate until completely melted and smooths (about 4 minutes). Transfer the melted white chocolate to a 1-quart bowl and set aside until needed. Place 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 6 tbsp. unsalted butter in a bowl. Beat on medium until smooth. Scrape down sides with rubber spatula. Continue to beat an additional 2 minutes until very smooth. Add 1 egg and 2 tsp. vanilla extract. Beat on medium for 1 minute until combined. Scrape down bowl. Add melted chocolate. Beat on medium for 1 minute. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix on low about 30 seconds. Add chopped peppermint candy and mix on low until incorporated. Use a heaping tbsp. of dough for each cookie. Place on baking sheet. Bake for 9 minutes. Please watch carefully as they cook quickly. Rotate pan halfway through cooking. Remove the cookies from the oven and cool to room temperature. Store in tightly sealed container until ready to serve.
