Every Christmas Eve my kids, husband and I make sure to sprinkle magic reindeer food on our front lawn for Santa's reindeer. The kids really have fun making the food as well as sprinkling it!

We also make some for the kids to give their cousins. We accompany the reindeer dust with the following poem:

Sprinkle on the lawn at night

The moon will make it sparkle bright

As Santa's reindeer fly and roam

This will guide them to your home.

Magic food supplies:

Small glass jar such as a baby food jar.

1/4 cup oatmeal 1/4 cup white sugar 3 Table spoons of red or green sugar crystals (for cake or cookie decorating)

silver or gold glitter Piece of Christmas fabric cut larger than the mouth of the jar. Large enough that you can fold it around the out side of the jar and tie a ribbon around it.

hole punch

rubber band

reindeer food poem

Magic food instructions:

1)Layer the ingredients like sand art. I start with half of the oatmeal and place it on the bottom of the jar.

2)Then add the green sugar on top of oatmeal.

3)Add half of white sugar on top of green sugar.

4) Sprinkle glitter on top of white sugar.

5)Add the rest of the white sugar on top of glitter.

6)Sprinkle red sugar crystals on top of white sugar.

7) top with rest of oatmeal.

8) Put fabric on top of the jar and secure with rubber band.

9) Tie ribbon around lip of jar to cover rubber band.

10)Hole punch a hole in the poem sheet and use one end of the ribbon to string it onto the jar.

11) Tie a nice bow with the ribbon.

There's no doubt that Santa will have any trouble finding your house now!

Happy Holidays!
