Summer picnics, family reunions, 4th of July celebrations and parties... Do I need to go on? There are so many opportunities during the summer to make and give homemade summer gifts.

I will be the first to admit that I love summer! Yes, being a teacher I am on my summer vacation, but that's not what I like. I LOVE the warm weather, the small of a charcoal grill, the sound of laughter at a party, Fourth of July fireworks, bare feet, and a good thunderstorm.

A homemade gift is especially fun to create with kids at this time of year. "Mom, I'm bored, there's nothing to do!" If your kids are like mine, I am sure you have heard that before. That's when I like to pick a craft or a gift idea out for them to make. It keeps them busy and entertained and will chase away the boredom.

Ideas For Summer Gift Giving!

Summer Rental David Doss

Get a plastic sand pail. Fill it with fun summer stuff such as flip flops, a magazine, sunscreen, lemonade, some sun glasses, etc. It's a vacation in a bucket.

BBQ Helper

Fill a basket or large metal tub with BBQ needs. An apron, tongs and BBQ utensils, favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages needed while that special someone Bar B Q's. Add hot mitts, a grilling cookbook and grill seasoning and you have a great gift for that grilling guy or gal in your life. TIP The chacoal chimney works AWESOME! I haven't used lighter fluid in years!!! Plus you don't get the lighter fluid taste on your food. I highly recommend this one.

Summer Jewelry

Buy some glass summery feeling bead and jewelry making supplies at your local craft supply store. Make some fun bracelets or ankle jewelry. Or get some hemp cord and try your hand at making some hemp friendship bracelets or necklaces.

Flip Flop Fun

Buy some cheap plain colored flip-flops and go to town decorating them. Wrap them with fun yarns. Glue gems, shells or beads onto the straps.
